Presenter: What do you get when you combine a downward dog, a lotus and a cobra? Duh! A super-awesome yoga class, of course!

Here at this school, most kids do yoga every week. But these young yogis are giving it a go for the first time.

Student 1: It was really relaxing and peaceful. And it took all of my stress away.

Student 2: You've just got to think about your breathing, about yourself.

Student 3: I find it relaxing and kind of cool because we do all these poses and steps.

Presenter: This spiritual practice of yoga originated in ancient India and it's been around for thousands of years. It gained massive popularity in Western countries in the 1980s and since then it just got bigger and bigger.

That's why, in 2015, the UN decided to dedicate an entire day to it. But it's not just great fun, experts say yoga has a lot of health benefits too.

Teacher: For kids it's amazing. It can help them to feel calm, less anxious and to also be really in their bodies. A lot of kids are quite disconnected, or they can be, so it can help them to be really present in their bodies, which is a really useful tool.

Presenter: These guys say it's been really fun learning some of the moves and they reckon they might just stick with it in the future.

Student 4: If I get stressed or something, I can just try yoga. And, so, I don't feel as stressed as I am before.

Presenter: And as for me, well, I might just stick to some of the easier poses for a while.
