LUCA: Melisa? Are you there?
MELISA: Luca, there you are! I didn't see you!
LUCA: What's all this?
MELISA: Plants! Today we're going to learn how to grow a bean plant and how to make it grow … and grow … and grow!
LUCA: Brilliant! Let's do it!
So, what do we need?
MELISA: We need some beans, some cotton wool, pots or jars and water.
First, put some cotton wool inside the jar. If you want, you can use kitchen paper instead of cotton wool.
Which type of bean do you want to plant?
LUCA: Let's plant the big white ones!
MELISA: OK, so, the second step is to put the beans in the cotton wool.
LUCA: One, two, three. Three beans.
MELISA: Now pour some water onto the cotton wool.
LUCA: Hmmm, how much water?
MELISA: Quite a lot, enough to make the cotton wool all wet.
LUCA: OK!
MELISA: Perfect! Now we can put the jar next to a window because beans need sunlight to grow and give them some water every day.
LUCA: OK, that's easy!
Wow, look at the bean. It has roots!
MELISA: Yeah, it's ready to move into a pot with soil now!
LUCA: OK, I'll put the soil into this pot and plant the bean into the soil.
MELISA: Perfect! We hope you have fun growing your own bean plants.
MELISA AND LUCA: Bye bye!
MELISA: Remember! To grow a bean plant:
- put some cotton wool inside a jar
- put the beans in
- pour some water onto the cotton wool
- put the jar next to a window
- give them some water every day.
That's it! Now you can grow your own bean plants.
